Novotel Manila Araneta City is marking its tenth anniversary with a bold step into the wellness space. The Quezon City hotel will host its inaugural Weekend Wellness Festival on October 4, offering guests a full day of fitness activities, mindful practices, and health-focused experiences. This celebration reflects a growing shift in hospitality toward promoting healthier lifestyles and mindful living.

A Decade of Service Meets Modern Wellness

Ten years after opening its doors, Novotel Manila Araneta City has established itself as a significant player in contemporary hospitality. The hotel’s decision to celebrate this milestone with a wellness-centered event signals its recognition of changing consumer priorities. Today’s travelers and urban residents increasingly seek experiences that support their physical and mental health, moving beyond traditional hotel offerings.

The Weekend Wellness Festival, built around the theme “Find Your Balance,” represents the hotel’s response to these evolving needs. Rather than a conventional anniversary celebration, the property has chosen to create an event that addresses the modern challenge of maintaining equilibrium in busy, demanding lives.

What the Festival Offers

The event takes place across the hotel’s sixth and seventh floors, transforming these spaces into a dedicated wellness venue. Registration begins at 8AM on October 4, with activities starting at 9AM and continuing until approximately 6PM. The programming extends into the following morning with an exclusive yoga session available only to overnight guests.

Fitness and Movement Activities

Participants can engage in high-intensity interval training and bootcamp workouts led by Technogym Philippines. These sessions cater to those seeking challenging physical activity and cardiovascular benefits. For guests interested in understanding their current fitness levels, the festival includes health assessments that provide personalized data about individual wellness status.

Mat Pilates classes offer a lower-impact alternative, focusing on core strength, flexibility, and controlled movement. These sessions appeal to participants who prefer measured, precise exercise over high-intensity workouts.

Recovery and Relaxation Options

After physical exertion, guests can access several recovery modalities. An ice bath experience, facilitated by OCA Collective, provides the cold therapy that many athletes use to reduce inflammation and speed recovery. The hotel’s steam room offers a contrasting heat-based relaxation option.

In Balance Spa delivers massage treatments using products from Yoga Love Ph. These services address the therapeutic side of wellness, helping participants release muscle tension and achieve deeper relaxation.

Mind-Body Connection

Sound healing sessions introduce participants to this increasingly popular practice, which uses vibrations and tones to promote mental calm and reduce stress. The festival also features a morning yoga class on October 5, exclusively for hotel guests, led by a practitioner specializing in holistic approaches to physical and mental renewal.

Culinary Wellness Components

Food plays a central role in the festival’s programming. Novotel’s culinary team has prepared a lunch menu that prioritizes healthy, sustainable ingredients. This meal demonstrates how proper nutrition supports wellness goals without sacrificing taste or satisfaction.

Interactive elements include a session where participants create their own energy drinks with Oster, learning about natural ways to boost vitality. A tea tasting experience with Dilmah adds a meditative component, showing how simple rituals can contribute to daily wellness practices.

Expert Guidance Throughout the Day

The festival brings together several experienced wellness professionals. Angelica Arciga from Technogym Philippines leads the high-energy fitness sessions, while Pamela Maia of OCA Collective manages the ice bath experiences. Jennifer Anne Odronia-Aquino, also from OCA Collective, instructs the Pilates classes.

Naz Nekoudast contributes expertise in sound healing and conducts the morning yoga session. Luisa Tonelada handles the tea ceremony in partnership with Dilmah, and In Balance Spa professionals provide massage services. Technogym Philippines specialists conduct the fitness assessments, offering participants actionable insights into their health metrics.

What Participants Receive

Festival attendees receive a welcome kit containing wellness essentials and a Novotel Manila sports bag from The Gift Shop. Full access to the hotel’s gym, pool, and steam room is included throughout the event. The sustainable lunch and all-day refreshments ensure participants maintain energy levels without interrupting their experience to leave the property.

The Vision Behind the Event

Hotel recreation manager Mischa Cruz-Tongo positioned the festival as more than a single event. She described it as the beginning of a wellness movement that reflects how people are making conscious choices about their health, sustainability, and mindfulness. The goal is to inspire the community to adopt a lifestyle that prioritizes balance and well-being.

This approach aligns with broader trends in urban living, where people actively seek ways to counteract stress, sedentary work habits, and disconnection from their bodies. By creating a concentrated wellness experience, Novotel Manila provides an accessible entry point for those who might not regularly engage with fitness studios or wellness centers.

Accessibility and Community Building

The festival format allows participants to experience multiple wellness modalities in one location over a single day. This removes common barriers such as traveling between different venues or committing to multiple class packages. It also creates opportunities for social connection among people who share similar health and wellness interests.

The inclusion of both vigorous and gentle activities means the festival can accommodate varying fitness levels and preferences. Whether someone gravitates toward intense workouts or prefers quiet, reflective practices, the programming offers relevant options.

Looking Ahead

While Novotel Manila Araneta City frames this as its first Weekend Wellness Festival, the structure suggests potential for this to become a recurring event. The positive response to wellness-focused programming in the hospitality sector indicates that such initiatives resonate with today’s consumers.

As hotels continue adapting to guest expectations that extend beyond comfortable rooms and convenient locations, wellness programming offers a way to differentiate properties and build community connections. This tenth-anniversary celebration may well set the template for how Novotel Manila engages with its guests in the years ahead.
