Luxperia is rewriting the narrative one herstory at a time, and here’s how they do it behind the scenes.
Adding ‘authenticity’ to a sales pitch is not hard, and in an industry that often bears the brunt of the cultural appropriation, an entirely new form of travel is being born. It not only showcases the places, but it also gives the people a chance to be heard. Luxperia, a tailor made travel engineer, did not only launch a new product line at the most recent ILTM Americas 2025; they offered a new way of thinking. The company that pioneered the idea called it “HerStory,” and it is a gentle yet radical shift in the domain of experiential travel.
For HerStory, Luxperia has created a thoughtful collection of bespoke journeys throughout Asia. These journeys are not meant to be tokenistic tourism approaches, but rather the ‘personifying’ of the continent’s most powerful cultural force: its women. The objective is to construct thorough, multi-layered itineraries focused on the matriarchs, a diversity of makers, activists, and enduring symbols who, and have always been, the caretakers of the past and architects of the future. This goal is to not just add a “women-led workshop,” the bare minimum that has come to define ‘inclusive’ tourism. ‘’
Linh Le, principal of Luxperia, describes the HerStory program as a “love letter to the women that inspire us the most.” This interpretation fits the program beautifully.
What the program lacks in polish, it makes up for in personalization. “It transforms a transaction to a tribute,” is how one would properly put it.
The success of HerStory can be found in the depth and variety of its offerings. It understands that the narrative of Asian women is not a singular one.
Travelers step into the matriarchal culture of the Ede people, who live in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. They spend time at the Dak Lak Tented Camp, where they can interact with women crafters and witness a community where women are the apical ancestors, leaders, and centri-petal figures of the society. This community offers a real-world case of social formations that stand in stark contradiction to Western norms.
The other main stop in the Viet Nam part of the program is in Hanoi. There, the program is infused with more history as it traces the route of the Trung Sisters and Bà Triệu, the warrior women who head the resistance movements against the foreign invaders of the country.
In this case, HerStory carries the passionate nationalism and Heroic History of the Vietnam War to the present day, where it finds a modern manifestation of fierce determination.
Laos is able to communicate this celebration of modern day resilience unlike any other region on the planet. The only other regions of the world that demonstrate the sustained empowerment in Luang Prabang and Vientiane as excellence. Through the Ock Pop Tok cooperative, travelers can interact with women weavers, female ceramic artisans entrepreneurs who turn old traditions into modern crafts, and even dine with women activists. These exchanges are far from staged, and are authentic transactions that help as to sustain a free market. This is not just for taking snapshots. Then, there is the more significant and almost mystical resolution that appreciates the “strength and the soft power of nurturing” that these journeys seem to unveil. Being blessed by elder women of the community is not only just another photo opportunity.
In addition, Luxperia leaps the narrative from the banks oof the active Mekong, right to the corridors of the palace, which Luxperia performs marvelously. At the ‘Daughters of the Mekong’ event taking place in Champasak, participants engage with local fisherwomen and listen to the rhythms of life along the river. Meanwhile, on those same days, Luxperia’s HerStory program branches out into more old-fashioned forms in Cambodia and Thailand. From a more democractic perspective, high society women influence the civilized world from all points of the globe as they cross ultra-sophisticated borders.
Last but not least, HerStory has set a new benchmark for eco-sensitive travel and luxury in the world. A well thought out travel itinerary followed by thorough out the culture and touch points of the visited country provides a deep immersion into the culture, a thread count pool which turns your stay into a sustainable model featuring all the axial stories from the region. A truly marvelous and generous gift.
In other words, Luxperia’s HerStory puts you in an immersive journey of self-discovery. It takes you to the connected core of the matter. In this case, it gives you an essential lesson that the best life experiences are not only the ones that change the stamps on the passport, but also those that transform our very being.
