Princess Cruises has officially unveiled its 2028 World Cruise! It is a 115-day global voyage aboard the Coral Princess, travelers will be visiting 49 destinations across 24 countries and five continents. What is so special about this voyage? Well it is set to depart on January 3, 2028, the journey offers travelers an immersive, rich in culture, round-the-world experience with access to over 39 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Bookings are now open for this voyage that will be one of the most ambitious and hectic long-haul itineraries in the cruise line’s history.

2028 World Cruise Itinerary Highlights: Five Continents and 36,000 Nautical Miles

36,000 nautical miles- you heard that right! The Coral Princess will sail approximately 36,000 nautical miles, crossing both the Equator and the International Date Line during its circumnavigation course. The itinerary begins in Fort Lauderdale or Los Angeles, transits the Panama Canal, and continues through the South Pacific, including stops in Hawaii, Samoa, and Fiji. And it will then continue to Australia and New Zealand, with stops at Sydney, Melbourne, including an overnight stay in Auckland.

And then from there, the ship crosses the Indian Ocean, and will visit islands such as Mauritius and Réunion, before arriving in South Africa. A key highlight of this voyage is an overnight stay in Cape Town and a maiden call to Mossel Bay. This is a coastal town known for its scenic beauty and archaeological significance, including coastal caves that house evidence of early modern human behavior dating back to over 160,000 years.

Later, the journey continues north along Africa’s western coast, enters the Mediterranean, and includes visits to breathtaking stops at Barcelona, Sicily, Dubrovnik, and Casablanca, before crossing the Atlantic and heading back to North America.

What Are The UNESCO-Focused Experiences On This World Cruise?

Now this is the Oscar-wining idea and a defining feature of the 2028 voyage. The emphasis on cultural immersion and the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Travelers on their voyage will have access to a whopping 39 UNESCO-listed locations. These locations range from historic city centers and archaeological ruins to protected natural landscapes. So if you are a lover of history, art, nature and the ocean- this is a once in a lifetime package deal for you! Princess Cruises is promoting this Voyage as a curated exploration of global heritage, filled with guided excursions, many enrichment talks onboard, and of course, regionally inspired dining.

What’s more? The extended port stays, that is the overnight and late-night departures, allow guests more time to explore destinations beyond what typical day trips allow. These include activities like cultural performances, local dining, and evening sightseeing. This truly enhances the depth of one’s travel experience aboard this ship.

What Happens In Mossel Bay and What’s The New Safari Option?

The 2028 itinerary includes a first-time port call in Mossel Bay, South Africa. Why is this so important? Because this shows the expanding of Princess Cruises’ footprint along the African coast. This little town offers access to beautiful nature reserves, beaches, and the Pinnacle Point caves, which is a UNESCO-recognized site of early human evolution.

Additionally, for the first time ever on a Princess World Cruise, travelers can book an optional African safari experience. This allows them to explore the vast wildlife reserves and national parks in South Africa or neighboring regions adding a very-much required land-based adventure component to the long maritime journey.

What Are The Flexible Booking Options and Loyalty Benefits For The World Cruise?

While the full 115-day voyage is available for the brave-hearted, Princess Cruises also offers flexible segment options ranging from 20 to 100 days. This allows travelers to join specific legs of the journey making it more doable than a long 115 day journey for most people. Travelers can join specific legs of the voyage such as the South Pacific, Australia, or Mediterranean segments. All this without committing to the entirety of the trip.

Here’s an important tip- Members of the Captain’s Circle loyalty program are eligible for onboard credits up to $3,000 per stateroom! These credits can be used for excursions, dining, and spa services. Early bookings also offer a number of benefits like priority cabin selection and specialty dining access.
